Purpose: The annual MSA scholarships will reward Muslim students of The Ohio State University for their exceptional academic success and extraordinary community engagement; moreover, these grants will help offset the rapidly increasing costs of a college education for outstanding students.

Aspects:

  • Up to four $1000 scholarships will be rewarded—two that will reward students for their tremendous performance in the classroom, and two that will reward students for their outstanding volunteer efforts to better our community.
  • The names of the scholarships are “The NICC Scholarship for Extraordinary Community Service” and “The NICC Scholarship for Outstanding Academic Achievement”
  • All undergraduate MSA members will be eligible to receive the scholarships. MSA board members that apply are not eligible to take part in decision committee.
  • Any student is only eligible to receive each scholarship once during their time as an undergraduate student; for instance, a student could not receive the scholarship for academic excellence twice, however a student could earn the grant for academic merit one year, and in the subsequent years they would still be eligible to receive the grant for community involvement.
  • Students are able to apply to both scholarships in a given year, but each student is only eligible to receive one of the two scholarships in a given year.
  • Preference will be given to those demonstrating financial need
  • Preference will be given to students receiving limited financial assistance via scholarships and financial aid.
